Our Mission
The mission of Fishing with America’s Finest is first and foremost save one of our Nation’s most valuable resources the U.S. Military Veteran by reducing the NUMBER 22. The number 22 is the number of Veterans we lose daily due to PTSD and other emotional issues. We do this by providing a day of (Piscatorial Therapy) FISHING THERAPY either in our F.W.A.F Fishing 101 Classes, shoreline fishing or spending the day in the Everglades of South Florida. During our unique therapy we share our knowledge of sport fishing as learned from Captain Neal Stark a Professional Tournament Bass fisherman and Founder of the Program. In this relaxed environment we empower them to be open, talk and realize that life is still worth looking forward to one cast at a time.
Our Program
FWAF a NON-PROFIT 501C3 which was started in 2009 as a way for Captain Neal and his Family to give back to the men and women who have served to protect our great county. Since then it has become more than a relaxing day out as it was discovered that Piscatorial Therapy actually provides therapeutic relief from PTSD and other emotional issues. We currently are working with the Miami VA Hospital, Universities, local, state, and Federal Government programs to make quality of life improvement for our Veterans. During our outing we provide a catch-and-release bass fishing experience in the Florida Everglades, parks or stocked facilities that offers a relaxing environment and a peaceful day of “fishing therapy. “America’s Finest” men and women and members of their family, are provided with everything they need for a successful day of fishing at no cost to program participants. FWAF provides either a professional bass fishing boat, 21’ fishing pontoon, flats boat, kayaks and guided shoreline adventures along with rods, reels, tackle and lunch for their day in the Florida Everglades. As well participants are LICENSE EXEMPT for the day during our program. All this plus they learn fishing techniques and strategy. This is all funded through Sponsors, donations and grants so the Veteran does not have out of pocket cost other than transportation to event site.
Who We Serve
FWAF serves US Military Veterans and their families from all over the United States. Most of the Veterans participating in the “fishing therapy” program have physical and emotional wounds that resulted from their military service. Many of these Veterans have become withdrawn and gradually disconnect from life remaining in their homes and unable to relax, associate with others or sleep for any length of time. They become home bound and shy away from interacting with people.
